Collecta Takahe
Critically engandered for many years, the Takahe is a symbol of hope in Aotearoa (New Zealand). Thanks to breeding programs, it's estimated that around 500 survive in the wild today!
Takahe is a large, flightless bird native to New Zealand. It is notable for its striking colours and rarity. Once thought to be extinct, the Takahe was rediscovered in 1948 in the remote Murchison Mountains of New Zealand’s South Island. The bird is considered one of the country's great conservation success stories.
